At the Juno Beach Center, we offer a permanent museum exhibit that traces the history of Canadians in the Second World War and a temporary exhibition which is renewed every two or three years. Temporary exhibitions allow the museum to highlight historical themes and introduce them to its public.
The exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Dieppe Raid in 2021-23 gave way in early 2024 to a new exhibition dedicated to the Royal Canadian Air Force.
Our questions about an exhibition’s environmental impact and how to produce our temporary exhibitions in a more responsible manner lead us to act on the following points:
- Reusing hardware from old exhibitions (screws, fasteners, display cases, furniture, wooden panels).
- The use of more responsible materials for certain elements (recycled paper kakemonos, recycled cardboard panels) which in turn are recyclable.
- The dismantling and assembly of exhibitions is done internally by our technical teams and with the support of local companies (painting, scenography, graphics and printing) to promote local expertise.
- For printing (panels, brochures, tour guides) we favor an Imprim’Vert certified printing company.
By choosing to opt for a more responsible approach for its exhibitions, the CJB is reducing its environmental footprint. The objective is to reduce waste but also to recover materials to promote the local and circular economy.
