We were honoured this morning to host Camilla, a young ambassador for the CHAMPS Operation Legacy program, an initiative of The War Amps. Camilla is proud to be part of Operation Legacy, which helps preserve and commemorate Canada’s military heritage by passing on the Remembrance message to younger generation. Though Operation Legacy members have not experienced war firsthand, they know what it is like to live without a limb – a bond they share with war amputee veterans.
The War Amps was created in 1918 to help war amputees veterans returning from the First World War. Camilla’s visit to the Juno Beach Centre to pay homage to Canada’s Veterans and Fallen Soldiers served to reinforce The War Amps’ tradition of “amputees helping amputees”. The Juno Beach Centre team was thrilled to have the opportunity to spend time with Camilla and her mother. She’s an inspiring young person!
