Sad News from the JBC

| July 9, 2013

The Juno Beach Centre was saddened this week by the news that Bruce Melanson, D-Day veteran and JBC director, passed away.

Private Bruce Melanson went overseas at the early age of 17, stretching the age requirement in order to get to the front with his comrades in May of 1940. Bruce landed on D-Day+13, the second wave of the invasion with the 3rd Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment.

Bruce was a tireless promoter for the Juno Beach Centre from the beginning and will be sorely missed by all of his Juno Beach family. We offer our most sincere condolences to Bruce’s family.
