Restoration of the JBC’s Guns

| April 12, 2014

A group of volunteers arrived yesterday to spend the week restoring and repainting the Second World War era guns on display in front of the Juno Beach Centre in preparation for the 70th Anniversary of D-Day. The 25-pounder and the 40mm Bofor are both important symbols of the Royal Canadian Artillery.

Representing Canada, from the 3rd (Montréal) Field Battery of Artillery, affiliated with the 2nd Field Artillery Regiment are LCol (Ret’d) Jacques Borne, CD, L/Sgt Denis Dumas, Adjuc (ret) Gilles Aubé, MMM, CD, and Captain Richard Ayoub, CD. From the UK is Simon Daymond, and finally Rob MacDougall, an artist from Toronto.

And just beyond them is the spirit of our founder, Lieutenant Garth Webb, 14th Field Regiment, RCA, overseeing the operations.

Dispatches from Juno shares all the news, events, and stories from the Juno Beach Centre in France and Canada. Interested in contributing a story to the blog? Email the editor at
