Queen’s Alumni Association sponsors a brick at Juno

| September 15, 2015

The Juno Beach Centre is pleased to welcome the Alumni Association of Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario as the newest addition to our commemorative brick program. The customized brick, complete with the logos of the University and its Alumni Association, displays a phrase that is engraved in the memorial room on campus paying tribute to members of the Queen’s family who died in battle.

Queen’s University has strong ties to the Second World War, with more than 170 students, staff, faculty, and alumni paying the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.

The connection is well documented through the online exhibit “Queen’s Remembers”, detailing life at Queen’s during times of war.

Our own founder, Second World War veteran and Queen’s alumni Garth Webb, would be proud to see the Association join the Juno Beach Centre in preserving the memory of those who did not return to campus after the war. He is pictured below at his graduation.
