Joe Segal, a 93-year-old Second World War veteran, reflects on the meaning of the Juno Beach Centre for Canadians. He was a member of the Calgary Highlanders fighting through Holland and Germany in 1944 and 1945, remaining with occupation forces after V-E Day. Joe recalls a near death experience when he was caught under a barbed-wire fence while advancing through a field. The most important lessons he learned in the army were togetherness and valuing your fellow man.
