It’s Flag Day in Canada! On February 15, 1965 the national flag of Canada was raised for the first time on Parliament Hill. Every year since 1996, when Parliament declared February 15th as National Flag of Canada Day, we celebrate our beautiful flag. The adoption of the current flag to replace the Red Ensign (the Canadian flag during the Second World War) is mentioned in the permanent exhibition.
Here at the Juno Beach Centre, we proudly display the flags of the countries who played a role on D-Day and during the Battle of Normandy in 1944.
At the centre of them all is the Canadian flag, 52 years old today!
