Dave Sopha has spent the past 2 weeks at the Juno Beach Centre where his painting, Portrait of Honour, is on display until October 13. This mural stretches 10 feet tall by 40 feet wide and features the faces of the 158 Canadian soldiers, sailors, and aircrew who have lost their lives in Afghanistan. Nearly every day the artist has been continuing his painting, adding poppy petals in the memory of the 116,000 Canadian who lost their lives in the wars since the beginning of the 20th century. ”I love it here. I am so touched by what the Juno Beach Centre represents. I talked to so many people getting so emotional talking to me. What impressed me the most is no matter where visitors came from, they showed a lot of respect for Portrait of Honor”.
