A Métis Man Goes to War

| August 22, 2016

Today the Juno Beach Centre was happy to welcome Paul Delorme and his family. Paul is a Métis veteran of the South Saskatchewan Regiment. He landed at Dieppe during the ill-fated Canadian assault on August 19th, 1942 where he was taken prisoner of war. After visiting Dieppe on the anniversary, Paul continued down the coast to pay his respects here at Juno. Paul’s visit came soon after that of French historian Olivier Richard, who worked with Paul on his memoire : A Métis Man Goes to War. Paul was kind enough to sign the copies available in our gift shop.

He’s now onto a well-deserved vacation at the age of 96 !

Thank you for your visit, Mr. DeLorme.
