“I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere appreciation to your dedicated staff for providing me with a truly memorable visit to the Juno Beach Centre.
I was impressed with the welcoming and knowledgeable tour guides, as well as the interactive exhibits chronicling Canada’s involvement in World War II. In addition, watching the film entitled “They Walk With You” prior to touring the beach was an emotionally moving experience that I will never forget.
I have longed to visit Juno Beach since my grandfather was a D-Day veteran. Finding the titanium plaque engraved with his name (Pte. Ray Jamieson, S D & G Highlanders, 1941-1946, D-Day Veteran Caen) was an absolute dream come true! I am very proud of my family history, and to be Canadian.
I am also grateful to your staff for directing me to another plaque located at Bernieres-sur-Mer, which commemorates the exact location where my grandfather’s regiment – the Stormont, Dundas, & Glengarry Highlanders – landed on June 6, 1944.
Thank you for preserving the memory of the brave men who landed on Juno Beach 71 years ago and who valiantly fought for our freedom.”
