Conference by Alain Stanké "Les Belles Histoire d’une sale guerre" (in French). Born in Lithuania in 1934, Alain Stanké experienced war as a child before immigrating to Canada in the 1950s. Journalist, author, documentary-maker & TV host, he is preparing a TV documentary for the 70th anniversary of the Normandy Landings and has agreed to give a conference at the JBC on this occasion. Beginning at 1pm: Free visit of the museum until 10:30pm - Presentation of a new film entitled "They Walk With You" - 3 concerts - Fireworks display.

Exhibit of "Portraits of Honour". This mural by Dave Sopha stretches 10 feet tall by 40 feet wide and features the faces of the 157 Canadian soldiers, sailors, and aircrew who have lost their lives in Afghanistan. |

Conference "The place of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy in the Canadian conscience past and present" by Dr. Serge Durflinger, History professor at the University of Ottawa, Canada. He is one of the rare Canadian bilingual historians who have studied the topic of the Second World War from both the Canadian Anglophone and Francophone perspectives. Free of charge.
