Conference by Alain Stanké "Les Belles Histoire d’une sale guerre" (in French). Born in Lithuania in 1934, Alain Stanké experienced war as a child before immigrating to Canada in the 1950s. Journalist, author, documentary-maker & TV host, he is preparing a TV documentary for the 70th anniversary of the Normandy Landings and has agreed to give a conference at the JBC on this occasion. Free of charge. JBC's multi-purpose room.

10th Anniversary of the JBC

Commemorative Ceremony for the 69th Anniversary of D-Day
and the Battle of Normandy in the presence of Canadian and French dignitaries / Inauguration of the Garth Webb Esplanade.

Beginning at 1pm: Free visit of the museum until 10:30pm - Presentation of a new film entitled "They Walk With You" - 3 concerts - Fireworks display.

Inauguration of an Anniversary Totem created by the students of Gilbert Boulanger Primary School of Courseulles-sur-Mer. Garth Webb Esplanade.

4th Used Books Sale organized by the French association "Les Amis du Centre Juno Beach". JBC's multi-purpose room.

Commemorative Ceremony * to honour Acadian soldiers (in French). Garth Webb Esplanade.

2pm - Start of "L'Acadienne" *, a historical walk from Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer to the Juno Beach Centre, commented (in French) by a JBC guide. Start line: "Square des Canadiens" in Saint-Aubin. All ages. Free of charge. Registration at the Tourist Office in Saint-Aubin.

4:30pm - Show by the dance group "La Baie en joie" * from Nova Scotia. 12 dancers accompanied by musicians Daniel Lewis et Jacques Blinn. All ages. Free of charge. Garth Webb Esplanade.

Acadia Week in St-Aubin

Juno Beach Trophy - Regatta organized by the "Société des Régates de Courseulles" in partnership with the JBC.

Exhibit of "Portraits of Honour". This mural by Dave Sopha stretches 10 feet tall by 40 feet wide and features the faces of the 157 Canadian soldiers, sailors, and aircrew who have lost their lives in Afghanistan.
 

 
October     Halloween at the JBC

Celebrate Halloween at the JBC. Activities including wooden board games and theatrical presentations.
     

 
November

Conference "The place of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy in the Canadian conscience past and present" by Dr. Serge Durflinger, History professor at the University of Ottawa, Canada. He is one of the rare Canadian bilingual historians who have studied the topic of the Second World War from both the Canadian Anglophone and Francophone perspectives. Free of charge. JBC's multi-purpose room.
 
       
November 11
at 3 pm
  Canadian Remembrance Day Ceremony. Garth Webb Esplanade.  
       
November 24   "Les Cuisinades" with duo of Norman and Québécois chefs Michel Bruneau and David Douville. JBC's multi-purpose room. Registration required.  

 
December     Christmas at the JBC  
Christmas Time   Christmas Celebrations at the JBC. Activities to be announced.
     
       

The Juno Beach Centre will update this program regularly throughout 2013. It also reserves the right to change and/or cancel all or part of this program.

Please note that concerts on the esplanade are cancelled in the event of poor weather.
