  Annual Program - 70th Anniversary

Temporary Exhibit "Grandma, What Was it Like During the War?" - Life for Normans and Canadians from occupation to Liberation. This exhibit, conceived and created by the Juno Beach Centre especially for the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings, tells the story of Norman and Canadian civilians (specifically children) from 1940 to 1944. Visit included in the museum’s admission fee. Fee for the temporary exhibit only: 3€ per person. Temporary Exhibit Room of the JBC.

Guided visit of Juno Park with a Canadian guide from the Juno Beach Centre. Discover the story of the D-Day Landings while walking on the beach along the remains of the Atlantic Wall, including the observation bunker in front of the museum.

Beginning April 1st, 2014, guided tours include visiting the tunnels that lead to the underground Command Post of the 6th Company, 736th Infantry Regiment of Hauptmann Grote which controlled the site in 1944. The German Command Post was originally connected to the observation bunker by a covered tunnel.

70th Anniversary of the Landings

Commemorative Ceremony for the 70th Anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy
in the presence of veterans, as well as Canadian and French dignitaries.

Commemorative Ceremony * to honour Acadian soldiers (in French). Garth Webb Esplanade.

2 pm - Start of "L'Acadienne" *, a historical walk from Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer to the Juno Beach Centre, commented (in French) by a JBC guide. Start: "Square des Canadiens" in Saint-Aubin | Finish: Garth Webb Esplanade of the Juno Beach Centre. All ages. Free of charge. Registration at the Tourist Office in Saint-Aubin.

4:30 pm – Concert  “chansons d’Acadie et d’ailleurs”  * with Yvette d’Entremont from Nova Scotia and performers from the “La voix de la mer” show. All ages. Free of charge. Garth Webb Esplanade.

The Juno Beach Centre will update this program regularly throughout 2014. It also reserves the right to change and/or cancel all or part of this program.

Please note that concerts on the Garth Webb Esplanade are cancelled in the event of poor weather.
