LCBO stores raise funds for The Juno Beach Centre Association
Starting May 1, 2005, the public can make donations to The
Juno Beach Centre Association at all 600 LCBO stores throughout Ontario.
Donation boxes for The Juno Beach Centre Association will be displayed
at LCBO checkout counters until May 31, 2005.
The Juno Beach Centre Association is a non-profit charitable corporation
supporting the Juno Beach Centre museum, which primarily is an educational
centre to honour the memory and sacrifices made by Canadians in World
War II.
The Canadian Federal Government has named 2005 the Year of the Veteran.
"It couldn't be a better time to honour them," said Garth Webb, M.S.C.,
President of The Juno Beach Centre Association and himself a D-Day veteran.
"We thank the LCBO, its employees and customers for providing this opportunity.
LCBO's province-wide store network is a very effective way for us to raise
awareness and funds for our organization."
"We are pleased to partner with The Juno Beach Centre Association," said
LCBO Chair and CEO Andrew S. Brandt. "LCBO's customers have always responded
generously to worthy causes."
Since 2003, LCBO has raised more than $35,000 for The Juno Beach Centre
Association. It is one of 26 provincial and numerous local charities that
will benefit from LCBO's province-wide donation box program in 2005. Hundreds
of thousands of dollars are raised annually through LCBO's in-store donation
box program. In addition, LCBO's annual dividend transfer to the Ontario
government, which totaled $1.115 billion in fiscal 2004-05, excluding
taxes, supports a wide range of important government programs, services
and priorities, including health care and education.
Mr. Webb said The Juno Beach Centre Association thanks the public for
its support when shopping at their local LCBO store during May.
