The Centre really brings to life what we attempt to teach in classrooms. It is evident by the rapt interest of the students in each part of the exhibits that they are extremely interesting and authentic representations of important parts of our history. This is a highlight of our trip to England and France. The two young kids (Peter & Madeleine) who act as “guides” on the info plaques and in the films in the museum take away from the importance of the events. In the video (who, when and why), their animation of moving arms seems very juvenile and inappropriate. They do not add to the interest or realness of these events. It is unclear as to what age group they are supposed to target as our group has an 8 year old, 16-18 year old students and adults and we, collectively, believe that they did not add to the exhibit. Aside from their images, the museum is excellent.

I believe that the artefacts stored and preserved here allow visitors to step into the shoes of these soldiers and what they may have experienced. The thoughtful letters on display warm everyone’s hearts and the tools shown clarify the broad picture of the 1940’s. With motion picture and still photography, the museum dances with rich history as we all remember what these brave Canadians sacrificed, lost, and won. Overall the museum is wonderful, and very Canadian. Thank you.

I really liked the temporary exhibit “Allies – Canadians & British during the Second World War”. It was very informative and well built. I think the passport system in the temporary exhibit is a great idea because it lets you know someone personally that fought in the war.
